How long has Bad Ass Coffee been in business?
Bad Ass Coffee was founded on the Big Island of Hawaii in 1989 where we introduced a new coffee experience and specialized in the coffee of Kona. In 1995 we moved to the mainland and began franchising in the U.S., U.S. Virgin Islands and Japan.
I’ve been to a Bad Ass Coffee store before, but it didn’t look like this company. Are they different?
They are the same great Hawaiian coffee brand. In 2019, the Bad Ass Coffee franchise was purchased by Royal Aloha Coffee Company, LLC and since then we have been investing heavily in the future success of all franchisees with new branding, packaging, store design, marketing, training and operations support. We have a new look, but it’s the same brand that’s been sharing the Aloha Spirit for over 30 years.
What are the qualifications to own a Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii?
You must have $500,000 available in liquid assets and a minimum net worth of $1,500,000. We’re looking for operators to join our ‘ohana who have business management experience, a passion for a premium cup of coffee and are ready to share the Aloha Spirit to their community.
How much does it cost to open a Bad Ass Coffee franchise?
The cost of opening an ideal Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii store ranges from $452,200 – $920,500, depending on the location you are building. Item 7 in our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) provides additional details.
How long does the franchise agreement last?
The initial term of a Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii franchise agreement is 10 years and includes an optional 10-year successor term.
What are your monthly fees?
Our monthly royalty fees are 5% of net revenue and a 2% contribution to the national marketing ad fund.
What kind of support can I expect when opening my Bad Ass Coffee store?

How long does it take to open a Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii franchise?
Each Bad Ass Coffee location will differ, but our team works to be as efficient as possible. The timeline is approximately 6-12 months.
What kind of training will I get?
Your success is our success, so we provide an in-depth training approximately 30-45 days ahead of opening. In addition, we provide an in-store tune up 2 days ahead of your grand opening to ensure everything runs smoothly.
What can I expect in terms of revenue?
